This modest ranch house has an attached guest Apartment. We call them Casitas here in the valley. The unit has a private entrance accessed from the backyard. The unit used to be the host’s apartment when we hosted several guest spaces in the main house. In 2020, we closed our Airbnb because of Covid concerns. For months we consulted doctors and worked on designs to create a safe Airbnb for these covid times. We optimized everything in this apartment.

The apartment was remodeled to maximize protection from Covid 19. Air ducts were sealed to stop shared airflow and eliminate hard-to-clean places where the virus could hide. Two mini-split AC / heating units were installed to provide temperature comfort without air ducts.

We removed all carpet. We have tile throughout the entire apartment. The bathroom fan vents directly through the roof. We remodeled the covered patio and added furniture to make it easy to lounge and eat outside. A Security door was installed to allow airflow and safety at the same time.

Our cleaning and sanitizing process exceed the standards set by Airbnb. We clean with a real mop and a bucket of disinfectant and water. We do not use swifters; In addition to sheets and pillowcases, we use sanitized pillow protectors and mattress protectors to provide the highest levels of prevention and cleanliness. We clean all surfaces with disinfectant. Then we use a professional electrostatic fogger to apply CDC-approved, hospital grade, virucidal disinfectant to everything: all touchpoints, remotes, furniture, appliances, curtains, fixtures, ac/ heaters, and beds. Then we seal the room so that you are the next person to enter.

Enjoy the covered patio, use the grill, or enjoy a campfire as you watch the stars at night.

Relax and enjoy the breeze as you sit on the front porch and watch the hikers climb North Mountain. Listen to the birds as they play in the trees. Try to keep your eye on the hummingbird as it darts around the yard, from the cactus to the bushes, and around the palm trees.

This is a nice space that is clean and sanitized with the basic necessities to ensure a comfortable and peaceful place to get away from the rat race.

If you are picky and must have only the finest things in life …. This is NOT the place for you!!

This is a clean, safe budget-based place to stay with basic appointments.

This is like your cousin’s house. Not the one with lots of money! The other one. The one that is hardworking and lives a simple life. They had some strict rules, but they shared whatever they had and always made you feel safe and welcomed. You know…… they accepted you for who you are.

All that said. The place is not perfect and we are working to improve it every day. You enter the suite from the backyard. The bedroom walkway slopes a bit toward the north wall. The spots on the ceiling where they sealed the vents are noticeable. The bathroom fan can be noisy at first then it quiets down. The light switches are in odd locations. The tile makes it echo. The grass is not green and sometimes unkempt. There could be more electrical outlets, more lights. More screens would be nice. We spent the money on remodeling for safety instead of spending on cosmetics. We have a list of planned improvements and we are slowly working on it. That is why we lowered the price.

Mountain view refers to the home itself. It got the name because guests like to look at the mountain from the front porch. They especially like watching climbers coming down at night with flashlights. This room does not have a mountain view. It looks out on the patio and backyard.
